Advocacy Center of Excellence
ACEs are organizations that have established a commitment to advocacy through consistent calls-to-action, training, education and social media engagement. Additionally, these organizations are actively involved with federal and state policy issues that affect community health centers and their consumers.
We received Bronze Status this year. To do so, we accomplished the following goals:
- Create an advocacy action plan.
- Incorporate policy and advocacy as a standing agenda item at CFH Board meetings.
- Pass a Board resolution on advocacy.
- Register 50% of CFH staff and Board members as health center advocates.
- Participate in events during National Health Center week. These include a voter registration drive and participation in the Providers of Health Care for the Homeless event. In 2019, we recognized Dr. Mark Makiling as the CFH โHealth Care Champion.โ
- Host at least one elected official at our health center. We hosted Council Member Antonio Reynoso at Peter Jay Sharp on August 4th, 2019. In addition, on November 7th, 2019, Council Member Rafael Espinal and NY State Senator Roxanne Persaud joined us for a ribbon cutting at 91 Junius Street.
