Construction Begins at Susan’s Place
in the Bronx
The demolition phase of the construction and renovation of Susan’s
Place: The Care for the Homeless Susan L. Neibacher Women’s
Center has begun. No sooner was the ink dry on all the documentation
at the loan closing that MDG Design and Construction moved on site
and began the transformation of 39,505 sq. ft. of empty commercial
space into a transitional residence and drop-in center for homeless
single women.
About a year from now, Susan’s Place will begin hosting a
program, tentatively being called Stepping Up and Out,
to capture its mission of bringing women whose lives have been disrupted
by drug abuse, mental illness, educational failures, poverty, and
other disabilities through the stages of change necessary for them
to become housed and rehabilitated.
