Homeless Voices
Homeless Voices is an innovative project aimed at breaking down the misconceptions and predispositions about homeless people and their lives. From its beginning in the summer of 2002, this project has profiled the struggles and accomplishments of many homeless New Yorkers, and is an ongoing endeavor, continuing to capture individual perspectives.

Clients' stories are told through the eyes of our staff of interns, who interview and chronicle the lives of our homeless clients with a sense of objectivity and compassion, characteristic of Care for the Homeless's mission. Our Interns have been instrumental in developing this project and carrying out all its major functions.
The detailed client narratives from this project are beneficial in our effort to educate and enlighten not only the public, but politicians and legislators as well. They represent a rare, candid look at the realities of the shelter system and the public assistance maze, and expose the truth about the effects of public policy in a distinctive way that could only be told in the client's own words. Client narratives are published in our newsletters and will also continue to have a home here on our web page.
