Debbian Fletcher-Blake, APRN, FNP
As a young woman, Debbian Fetcher-Blake, APRN,
FNP promised herself that she would spend her life helping the less
fortunate. Today she is the Assistant Executive Director at CFH,
meaning that she oversees the operation of medical, dental and behavioral
care at CFH Article 28 clinics, provides care in CFH clinics, ensures
compliance with federal grants, and that’s just some of it.
“I am very busy,” she says, “But it’s fun
too”.
Debbian, a family nurse practitioner and mother of four, is proud
to go home and tell her children about what she accomplished at
CFH. “We (CFH) matter because we have a proven track record
to provide comprehensive service to those who are homeless,”
Debbian said. “We offer services that meet the basic needs
of homeless people. If we didn’t offer it or collaborate with
others who offer it, there would be a void.”
Luckily for the agency, healthcare is her passion and her calling,
and she feels there is no population more underserved than the homeless.
“Knowing that I’m contributing to the health of the
most vulnerable population is the most fulfilling,” she said.
It’s also what keeps her going on a daily basis.
“It is just a desire to make the world a better place and
safer for my children,” she says, “I feel I am making
a huge public health contribution. Someday my kids will say, ‘I
am glad she did that’.
